Departmental Aim

Our aim is that each pupil in Lisnagarvey will see the relevance of religious faith in the 21^st century and they will find classes to be both challenging and enjoyable.

Overview of Key Stage 3 Curriculum

Topics Include – Background to the Bible

- Life of Jesus

- Revelation of God in the Old Testament

- Moral Issues (The family, addiction etc)

- Introduction to world faiths.

Overview of Key Stage 4 Curriculum

GSCE classes will follow the NI syllabus. Currently there are 4 sections

- Section A The Life of Jesus 28%

- Section B The Christian Church 24%

- Contemporary Moral Issues 28%

- Coursework 20%

Non GCSE Classes will examine the application of religious faith to a variety of moral issues.

Departmental Facilities and Resources

RE is a vibrant department within the life of the school. It is a popular choice at GCSE Level and results in recent years have been excellent. Facilities within the dept are excellent; three classrooms having interactive whiteboards. The Department is closely associated with a number of charities, in particular Action MS, which the Department has helped to support for 25 years.
