During Year 8, pupils study the novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. This is a cross-curricular scheme which integrates with what pupils study in History. In October, Year 8 visited Lisburn City Library to find out more about Anne Frank and Germany during Hitler’s reign. The exhibition was interactive and included a life-sized replica of Anne’s bedroom (in the house where the Franks were hiding from the Nazis). All pupils and staff involved found the exhibition to be extremely informative and thought-provoking. Pupils were able to use information they had found out as a basis for creative writing within English lessons.
