This unit focuses on exploratory work, by means of which you develop your 2D and 3D visual language skills as you work in art, craft and design contexts. | UNIT 2 Materials, Techniques and Technologies |
This unit enables you to explore, experiment and understand the use of a wide range of specialist 2D and 3D materials, techniques and processes before selecting a specialist area. The intention is that this unit will give you a broad experience of a variety of materials, techniques and processes as a foundation to developing your work. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your skills and understanding in both developmental work and the production of finished work. | UNIT 6 Develop Set Ideas |
This unit which is delivered through the externally set ‘Summative Project’ gives you the opportunity to work to a vocationally focussed brief and to research and develop ideas to prototype stage, e.g. 3D models, mock-ups, samples etc. The vocationally focused brief is set by the awarding body and is intended to be as flexible as possible. This unit enables you to develop specialist skills in fine art. This unit will enable you to apply the process of design in re- sponse to a written brief. The design process starts by resolving the ‘needs’ of the brief. The ‘needs’ may be how a thing should look, how it should function and how it should be made. This will depend on the client and the proposed user. | UNIT 14 Multimedia (Optional) |
This unit encourages the possible interaction of traditional and a new technology to develop different creative visual outcomes.
