GCSE ICT

The influence of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is rapidly expanding. New information and communication technologies, services and networks are transforming the way people live, work and learn.

ICT is concerned with how technology is and can be used to manage and process information. Today’s computers and computer software are used to create, convert, access, store, organise, protect, present, communicate and transmit information in a variety of electronic forms.

GCSE ICT  provide students with the technical knowledge, skills and understanding needed in a world increasingly dominated by the use of ICT systems. The study of ICT can also lead to careers in ICT management as well as people management, computer programming, database management, website design, website management or graphic design

This subject offers students a practical approach to ICT by presenting modules in web design, desktop publishing and multimedia design, and task-based coursework (accounting for 60 percent of the overall grade). It also allows students to incorporate ICT related work that they are carrying out in other subjects.
