Topic: E-Safety
- Internet – The Internet is made up of millions of computers around the world. They are connected together to exchange data.
- E-Safety – This involves being careful and staying safe when using any form of information technology
- Chat Room - A chat room is a place on the internet where people with similar interests can meet and communicate together by typing messages on their computer
- Cyber Bullying – Cyber bullying means to try to hurt someone’s feelings by using technology such as the internet, email, chat rooms and text.
- E-mail - Email or electronic mail is a way of sending messages over the internet
- Search Engine – Sites that help you try to locate the information you need. For example; Google
- Homepage – The first page you see when you log onto a site
- URL (Uniform Resource Locator) – The unique address that you see when you log on to a site
- WWW – World Wide Web
- Hyperlink – A connection between one page and another
- Web Site – A collection of web pages

- Microsoft Word – A word processing software
- Computer - This is the main part of the system. All other devices are linked to the computer processor.
- Monitor - This device allows us to view the work we carry out on the computer.
- Keyboard - Called the QWERTY keyboard, this is the device we use to type text, numbers and punctuation
- Mouse - This pointing device is used to make choices, move around and draw on the screen.
- Printer – a device that produces a paper copy of the information on your screen
- Speakers – A device that lets you hear sounds generated from the computer.
- Scanner – A device that takes a picture of an image, and records it as a digital file for use with a computer
- Caps Lock – When you press this on your keyboard, everything you type will be in capital letters
- Spacebar – This is pressed to create a space between words
- Delete – If you highlight your text and press delete on your keyboard this will clear the highlighted text
- Return – You can press return to make a new line
