Topic: Using Microsoft Word
September 2009
- ICT – Information Communication Technology
- Ergonomics– This is when certain jobs are looked at and the conditions that they require people to work in so that people can work to the best of their ability.
- Microsoft Word – A word processing software
- Computer - This is the main part of the system. All other devices are linked to the computer processor.
October 2009
- Monitor - This device allows us to view the work we carry out on the computer.
- Keyboard - Called the QWERTY keyboard, this is the device we use to type text, numbers and punctuation.
- Mouse - This pointing device is used to make choices, move around and draw on the screen.
November 2009
- Printer – a device that produces a paper copy of the information on your screen
- Speakers – A device that lets you hear sounds generated from the computer.
- Scanner – A device that takes a picture of an image, and records it as a digital file for use with a computer
December 2009
- Caps Lock – When you press this on your keyboard, everything you type will be in capital letters
- Spacebar – This is pressed to create a space between words
- Delete – If you highlight your text and press delete on your keyboard this will clear the highlighted text
- Return – You can press return to make a new line

- Microsoft PowerPoint –A presentation program that lets you make and show slide shows
- Audience – These are the people that you are creating your presentation for
- Slide - Presentations are made up of a series of pages, called slides

- Transition -Slide transitions are the visual movements as one slide changes to another.
- Animation –Animations are visual effects applied to individual items on the slide such as graphics, titles or bullet points
- Slide Show – A slide show is the presentation of all the digital slides
- Slide Layout -The slide layout in PowerPoint is the arrangement of all the items that make up your slide, such as title, graphics or text boxes.

- Action Button – When you click on this it will automatically take you to another slide in your presentation.
- Timings –These can be set up so that each slide will appear automatically. In other words the presentation will run on its own
