Transferring Students

Elizabeth Addis (Head Girl 06/07)

I came to Lisnagarvey High School from Forthill Integrated College because Lisnagarvey offered me the two subjects that I had always wanted to do - A-Level Business Studies and ICT. I had heard a number of very encouraging reports about the school and this played a big part in helping me make a decision to join Lisnagarvey.

I was very anxious about joining a new school but I soon discovered that my worries were in vain. Both the pupils and staff were very welcoming and I settled into my new school very quickly. During my time at Lisnagarvey High School I have made a number of very close friends, who I hope to remain in contact with in the coming years.

My biggest achievement was being selected as Head Girl. This position within the school has helped me to develop my leadership and communication skills.

I would definitely encourage any student to attend Lisnagarvey High School. It is an excellent School with a lot to offer.

Tony Chivers (Senior Prefect 06/07)

I must admit that when I first considered joining Lisnagarvey High School I didn’t really know what to expect and I felt very nervous. However, as I look back over the last two years I can honestly say that Lisnagarvey staff and pupils were very welcoming. Joining the school was one of the best decisions I have made. I was informed of the extra curricular activities available within the school and always encouraged to take part, thus helping me to feel very much part of the school.

In my first year I was given the role of prefect and then in my final year I was given the responsibility of Senior Prefect.

For those students who are at the crossroads of education, and not sure what the next step should be, I thoroughly encourage you to consider joining Lisnagarvey High School. Even though I was a former pupil of Laurelhill Community College I will always have very fond memories of my time here at Lisnagarvey.

Gillian Watterson (Senior Prefect 06/07)

Why did I come to Lisnagarvey High School?
I came to Lisnagarvey High School to study three A-Levels. Since coming to Lisnagarvey I have been provided with the opportunity of reaching my full potential in two subjects that I have very much enjoyed.

I had no previous experience of studying Business Studies even at GCSE level, and was a little concerned that I might struggle within an A-Level class. However, this was not the case. I received excellent guidance and support from the teaching staff which enabled me to grow in confidence within the two subject areas.

As I was moving away from Laurelhill Community College, I was obviously very uneasy because I was facing the unknown. This nervousness and anxiety soon changed to enjoyment and laughter, as I settled into my new course and made new and lasting friends. I would highly recommend Lisnagarvey to anyone who is looking to broaden their horizons and gain new skills and qualifications. /p>

Rachelle Orr (Deputy Head Girl 07/08)

Previously attended Laurelhill Community College
I moved to Lisnagarvey to study A-Level Business Studies and A-Level ICT. Looking back over my first year I am proud to say I have enjoyed it to the full. This school has so much to offer me and I am extremely glad I made the decision to join Lisnagarvey.

There is no doubt in my mind that I would not have achieved the grades that I have achieved so far without the support and dedication of the staff here within Lisnagarvey.

I can genuinely say that there are no barriers between staff and pupils. There is a true sense of mutual respect. The staff treat each student as an individual and offer support whenever and wherever they can.

To summarise my experience of Lisnagarvey in two words - immensely enjoyable!
