Create a list of at least 10 rules that apply to Art and Design and the art room and copy into homework books, e.g. put all bags underneath desks.

Choose three basic shapes e.g. squares, circles etc. and create an overlapping pattern. Cover the whole A4 page and colour using either Hot or Cold colours.
What is your favourite colour? Create an exciting collage based on this colour. You could use cut-outs from magazines, wrapping paper, sweet wrappers etc. Please use your imagination!
Using both the Internet and library, find out as much information as you can about your favourite colour. Write the information into your homework book. You could also create a picture to accompany your written work.
Over the following week you are to think about your favourite colour and record in your homework book where you see that colour being used, e.g. a football pitch, on a large billboard poster, your granny’s cardigan etc. You should give at least 8 examples.
Find three highly coloured objects from home, e.g. a stripy towel, packet of sweets, an item of clothing etc. Draw out the objects and colour. Try to match the colours exactly using your colour mixing skills.
Find three different textured objects from home, e.g. a teddy bear, straw hat, knitted jumper etc. Draw out the objects and colour.

Design a sheet of wrapping paper and card to be sold in a gift shop. The theme is Christmas and be as creative
as possible (two separate A4 pages).
Complete the photocopy on texture. Fill in the boxes accordingly and be as imaginative as possible. If you can think of more textures, continue on the back of the page.
Study at least eight different surfaces or objects around the house, e.g. brick walls, coins etc. Place paper over the surface and produce a rubbing for each one with coloured pencils.

Look into a mirror and create a self-portrait of yourself. Shade in the object using HB and 2B pencils only.

Produce a coloured study of an opened lunchbox. Include items such as sandwiches, drink, crisps, yoghurt, biscuits etc.
Produce a drawing of a semi-crushed can of juice. Half to be shaded using an HB pencil and the other half to be completed in colour.
Draw a detailed study of a pair of boots, shoes or sports trainers. Colour using coloured pencils.
Choose a member of your immediate family and draw them sitting down, once completed shade the drawing using an HB pencil.
Choose a window at home and draw the view that you see from that window. Include as much detail as possible and complete in colour.
Choose your favourite item of clothing. Place it on a table or hang it on a clothes hanger. Create drawing using HB and 2B pencils – a shaded study.
Empty out the contents of your pencil case and draw exactly what you see complete in colour (including the pencil case).
Draw a packet of crisps and bar of chocolate – divide the page in half and complete half in cold colours and the other half in cold colours.
Complete a detailed drawing of your school tie, shirt and blazer hanging on a clothes hanger – complete in HB/2B pencils.
Create a pencil-shaded study of a television and DVD/video player. Include as much detail as possible, i.e. buttons, controller etc.
Choose from a hairdryer, an electric kettle or a drill and create a detailed study. Complete in pen only.
Design a T-shirt for sports at Lisnagarvey High School – use 4 colours only. Try to be as creative as possible.
Create a detailed study of a tea towel tied in a knot to show shape, form, tone and structure. Use HB, B and 2B pencils to shade the object carefully, paying attention to light and shadow.
Design a CD or DVD cover for your favourite music group or film.
Create a poster designed for your birthday party. Think about colours, shape, size, information etc.
